Britney Spears' impressive sales week spreads across Europe, as she follows the No. 1 debut of "Circus" on The Billboard 200 by racing 41-1 with the set on European Top 100 Albums and 7-1 with lead track "Womanizer" on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles.
"Circus" debuted at No. 41 on last week's pan-European survey after a No. 5 entry in France and chart entries in the Belgian regions of Flanders and Wallony, but leaps to No. 1 in its first full sales week across the region.
The album makes only one bestselling start, in Switzerland, but arrives at No. 2 in Ireland, No. 4 in the United Kingdom, No. 5 in Denmark, No. 9 in Germany and Italy. It also climbs 5-3 in France and 10-4 in Wallony.
First-week U.K. sales of 76,000 for "Circus" easily outdo those of 48,000 for its predecessor "Blackout," which had a week at No. 1 on Top 100 Albums in November last year. Sony BMG puts Spears' total worldwide album sales at 62 million. Her "Circus Starring Britney Spears" tour will play no fewer than eight nights at London's 02 Arena between June 3 and 14 next year.

Spears' "Womanizer" single climbs 5-2 in Denmark, 3-2 in Wallony, 7-3 in the United Kingdom, 10-4 in Austria, 9-7 in Germany and debuts at No. 4 in France, although it's down 1-4 in Finland. Katy Perry moves 3-2 on the Eurochart with "Hot N Cold" (Virgin/EMI). Four of the top five artists on the Eurochart are female, with last week's No. 1, Beyoncé's "If I Were A Boy" (Columbia/Sony BMG), down to No. 4 and the Pink song at No. 5. Guru Josh Project's former No. 1 "Infinity 2008" (Bigcitybeats) is down 2-3.
