Again, you're proving my point. I said if you weren't aware it was from 2007, you wouldn't be calling it dated. It sounds like something from a couple of years back (thus the Gee/Oh/Hoot comparison), yes, but that's not a negative to me. If anything, it's a welcome change from whatever the hell SM's tactics have been since The Boys. The production was given an overhaul though? It has new backing vocals, a new intro, a new bridge, more percussion, different lyrics and cleaner synths? I'm still not getting how it's dated? You haven't said any reason as to why?
TBH, music isn't always that important for SM. They know their stans will buy bulk purchases of their faves, regardless of the output. You can only name two title tracks in how many years that back up your point and both weren't even from in-house producers... I can name two albums from YG, from this year alone. And even FlopYP is releasing quality. SM stay a half-baked mess in 2014.
I actually like this comeback. Shame it's getting **** on, while that POS Twinkle was being praised...

I mean I like the song and all, it's catchy and it suits them and it has a great MV, but there's just something about the arrangement that makes it seem dated to me. The whole horn thing isn't the issue, it just seems like the song could have been released earlier. The production hasn't really been overhauled besides the middle-8 and the ending. The synths are exactly the same but they just mixed and mastered it differently so it sounds a bit more "shiny" and polished. It's not bad but what I meant was that it could have been better, but that's just my view and I'm not trying to change opinions or hate on TTS, even if I don't really like them that much.
SM is a mess music wise we all know that, just look at SNSD's Korean album material, most of it is awful. The Japanese label does a much much better job with the music and it shows.
They find decent material for f(x) but they are mostly remakes. Red Velvet seems promising but we've only heard one song. EXO for me can be hit and miss, but I liked Overdose.
