That will never happen.
Platinum and multi-platinum certifications will just continue to be more impressive than a few years ago.

they already do that, it's called DISCOUNTS

Streaming is killing album and single sales.
$7.99/$0.69 should be the standard prices for digital albums/songs. They'd make more profit if they did that.

Ever since Napster the idea that music should be free and that stealing it (what you do when you illegally download) is totally OK has been embedded into people's heads. The same thing never happened with films, also because illegally downloading a film over the internet is a bit more complicated and takes more time.

We've already seen the massive decline in the quality of music videos, same will continue to happen to concert shows, even the production and amount of work and effort that goes into individual albums (because artists will have to tour more and more to make a living and won't be able to take a year off to make an album). For us fans sales disappearing is the worst thing that can happen.

The industry needs to find a way to solve this out

Honestly, one reason is because it's not convenient to pirate and view quality video material. There's an annoying inconsistency between codecs and containers that different devices support, and even if you have high-quality Blu-Ray rips, streaming them across home interfaces is often unreliable.

I haven't bought an album in a few weeks.
Ariana's album disappointed me am not buying til it's discounted. It was suppose to be the 2nd best album this year (behind Mimi ofcourse). It's so ugh.
There's no point in lowering prices, making new formats, or lowering certifications. Streaming is taking over, it's a digital world, this is inevitable.
DVD sales will decline soon, too. Netflix and such will take over, I also think Video Game sales will decline too. PS4 or w/e, I believe launched some sort of Streaming type thing where you get catalogs of games for a subscription.
Things are changing. I actually like it, Streaming profit has already surpassed Digital profit and will do so even more in the future.

Downloading a four minute audio clip is a lil different than downloading a two hour video file. Most people don't have the patience to figure it out.

3 things including some that you need installed and more time to actually download vs googling "download [insert song title] and clicking one link".

Paying $10 a month to get access to millions of songs makes buying an album of 12 tracks for $10 already look so old school.
Someone in the industry also told me a certain label plans on launching their own Streaming service next Summer. We'll see if that actually happens, though.

DVDs are so expensive though (here at least). Game Of Thrones seasons 1 and 2 cost 150$.
