LOL @ that comparison. Don't try to diminish how philosophically driven that song and music video was. It wasn't just a cute trivial song that was supposed to make you feel good like Diva and Flawless. It was her attempt at a feminist statement. You think she stood in the front cover of time with minimal make up for no reason? (even though the pic ended up photoshopped). But at the end of the day, the thing with beyonce, is that she's weak sauce. It's all just words, when you think about it, what has Beyonce really done for feminism? What doors has "Mrs Carter" opened that Madonna and Janet haven't already seen too? Yup that's right.

|
Yes, she did make a statement. And it is all the more validated by the fact that the singer of that song is herself feeling pressures based on the beauty standards. If even Beyoncé feels this way, is it not just a bit empowering to a young girl who can then realize that her and Beyoncé, despite the millions and the personal trainers, etc. share something in common in regards to feeling insecure? That her insecurity does not make her wrong because it is something even Beyoncé deals with?
Beyoncé may not have opened as many doors as Janet and Madonna (more were closed then) but she definitely made the word feminist less scary to people. Look at how so many popstars emphatically denied being a feminist and now are embracing it. Nice try at shading her with "Mrs Carter" though, I guess you don't really understand feminism if you think that simply taking your husband's last name as a nickname is somehow antifeminist. The whole point is that women should be able to do what they want, not what society thinks is best.

This is so annoying. She's had the same gap all year. I mean the crotch shots have been outrageous all tour.

The sad thing is her body is the definition of a perfect female why does she feel the need to do this to her thighs? She looks so damn good without that messy photoshop already.
|
Most people dislike some part of their body. She apparently doesn't care for her thick thighs. Why people are doing the most over this, who knows?
Their faves are photoshopped in every mag. pic and cover.

We raise her up for her amazing stage presence, her soaring vocals, her impeccable dancing, her ability to create a brilliant album and release it in a way that truly infiltrates pop culture. NOT because she's never saw a flaw in herself. You should go listen to Flaws and All.

I'm going to stay on topic, but the "everyone else does it too" excuse has been used in recent threads for recent events outside of just the IG photoshopping.
Flaws and All is overrated.
She needs to stop projecting something unattainable. The fact that these articles are being written all points back to Beyonce's own doing.
She had no business editing her pictures and herself to the public in the first place. There would be no contradiction if she hadn't placed the first messages/images out there.

What's next, one argues against racism and racism and intentionally uses racial slurs, or profiles because they have "succumb to the pressures of society".

Okay. So Madonna got all that plastic surgery because she is a totally secure feminist? That's like permanent photoshop on your face. And there's no hiding it. What makes Beyoncé different, good question indeed? Where are all the anti-feminist rants on Madonna? There are none because beauty and feminism, while related, are different topics.
Feminism is about equality for men and women. Insecurity is a personal issue often brought on by the way society conditions us to think about "normal" or "pretty." They have similarities but are different subjects. Men suffer from insecurity too, but they do not generally suffer the cons of an anti-feminist society.

BEYONCE HAS NO BUSINESS DOING WHATEVER SHE WANTS TO HER OWN PHOTOS? That's news to me. I guess the public owns her photos.

Your irony missed me and common sense. And I want you to re-type that sentence so that the subject and predicate makes sense.
Back to your statement, explain the irony of MY post compared to other statements made by myself as it relates to Bey's lyrics and her photoshopping the hell out her thighs.
I'll wait.

As expected, the usual suspects are here, spewing their blatant hate and ignorance. Quite frankly, when these pics were originally posted on her website yesterday, i didn't see anything. So who's to say someone didn't tapper with the original pic? Furthermore, most of you guys are in no position to judge, when most of your personal pictures on social media are loaded filters, and photo-shopped to the higher heavens.

Ya. Unless it's just a selfie, most celebs photos are probably photoshopped. It's the business. It's HOLLYWOOD. HELLO!
But this picture is how it showed up on her page. It hasn't been edited since.

Nope, because those same young girls will see Beyonce conforming to the standards she is condemning. So really the message she is sending is "yeh yeh, we all feel insecure, make like me and pretend to be happy with your body while photoshoppin your candids."

Maybe that's because she's turned it into a powerless accessory and label. Maybe Beyoncé is even part of the problem why nobody takes feminists seriously anymore.

Chile! You can write all the thinking pieces in the world, slit them wrists and pull out that hair, Beyonce will remain unphased and unbothered.

You think she'd stop after the first two or three times she got caught.
Bitch it's just Instagram. If you don't like the way you look in the pic, don't post it.

Not if she wants to be the realest, beacon of hope, role model for all the ages, titan of feminine beauty-grace-poise-perfection and divadom.
She's the King, remember?!
Either she's ****Flawless and above all the lessors...or she's not.
It's up to the Hive, really.
Let's just stay consistent. I can't tell if y'all are coming or going these days.
