If You Ruin Me flops... I have the feeling that there won't be any more singles or album. Remember when Lolita flopped and Warner cancelled everything? I know they are in Sony now, but they have invested quite a lot of money in this project, so they expect great results.
I am still so pissed such a good song flopped. Lolita was amazing.
You Ruin Me is nice. Hopefully it gets into the top 20 at least...
I'm in love with this song right now. Its lyrics have been on my mind the whole day.
I feel the same. Everyone is a little bit surprised that they released a track like this, but if you recall, The Veronicas have always been ahead of the trends in pop music -- 4eva in 2005 and Hook Me Up/Untouched in 2007 were both a little disruptive and that's why they were successful. There wasn't anything too similar on the radio at the time. Here's hoping You Ruin Me is also as successful as Untouched.
I really, really want this to do well but I don't think it will by that much. Hopefully they promote the **** out of it and it can become an HAC smash at least.
Y'all do realize that they have NEVER had a Top 10 hit in the US right? Their highest peaking album is Hook Me Up, which peaked at 107. They've only had 2 songs chart on the Hot 100, Untouched (#17) and Take Me On The Floor (#81). Its not like some uptempo bop would've just EXPLODED in the US anyways. They NEED promo regardless. All that matters is if the song catches on, because no song by them would've just blown up anyways. They have no status in the US. Its not like their some former Pop staple that's been gone for 7 years. The fact that they were gone for 7 years and haven't had much success in the US means they're basically starting from scratch in every aspect. Ballads DO and CAN blow up. I'd rather they try something different than be generic.
I also don't get this talk of "if this isn't a hit the album wont be released". Their album being postponed had nothing to do with that really. They had label issues and are now on a new label. Do you really think they'll just try 1 song and give up after signing them? We will at least get 1 more single even if the worst happens and this tanks.

It's not that we don't have faith in them though. I mean, if the general public is making songs like "Turn Down For What", "The Fox", etc. smash then... With ballads the general public is extremely unpredictable, unless it's a big shot artist (Adele, Rihanna, etc.) so I'm sure that's why we're so knit-picky about it; because we want them to smash. But now knowing that "Line of Fire" was used in the teaser, I really wish they'd put that out
I really do like the song, but yeah I'm convinced it's not going to do much for them. Bring on the other new tracks!
Also, to the person who said that Kelly has an identical song, what are you referring to? Because this sounds like nothing on either of her last couple of albums.

Again this song does not do this album justice, it's a perfect song to start off with, kind of like a palette cleanser before the storm...And "Line Of Fire" is going to slay!
