Your video games list is practically a carbon copy of mine.
NHL 09 is by far the best sports game ever (and I've played many. Me and one of my friends are practically professional sports gamers).
Left 4 Dead is ridiculously awesome. I love how you basically never play the same level twice. It changes every time. It is a fantastic system that other games should use.
Gears of War 2, while it is a great game, I feel there are better games. I'm the type of person who like Call of Duty more than GOW or Halo.
GTA IV is simply awesome. There isn't much more to say.
Rock Band 2 is better than Guitar Hero so you got that right. I wouldn't quite put it at #1, but I can't argue with someone who does.

On Gears
I agree with you that it was a bit of a letdown, but for me the reasons slightly differ. I enjoyed and was good at shotgun battles in Gears1, but Gears2 dropped the ball on it big time. The aiming system needs to be fixed badly. Same goes for the Sniper Rifle. Matchmaking is terrible as well. They match me with the worst players sometimes, while the other team has ridiculously high ranks.
You really liked the story? I thought it was borderline corny, but I could see they tried to please the group that complained about a lack of story in GoW1. The only part that spun my world around was the "revelation" of Dom's girlfriend. I didn't see that coming at all, and it was very Oscar worthy stuff.
On GTA IV
I think most of the backlash was because they seemed to go backwards on most of the innovations that made the previous games. Other than that I really enjoyed the story, the incredible attention to detail and the general gritty feel of the game.
Superb list so far!

"We're out there zappin' rats and roaches and making sure your kids don't drink piss from da ****in' wahtafountains."
Great stuff man. Sorry I missed out on your videos list last night. I WAS FAR BEYOND MEDIMACATED! But now, I'm in the party mood.

Well, I never said that I really liked the story. I said that it was interesting, and that Dom and Maria was the most intriguing part of the game. The story is very corny, but that's also part of its charm. Matchmaking is a HUGE problem in Gears 2. I've played in a couple games against guys who were, obviously, far better than I was, when you're supposed to be matched to players around your skill level. Thanks, Epic!
As for GTA, the problem is that it was their first game on a next-gen system, and they really did need to start from the ground up. It's not as much a couple steps backwards so much as it is starting anew.
My anticipated albums list should be up shortly, assuming, of course, I don't fall asleep.

Attack of the Ambition: Top 10 Anticipated Albums of 2009
No comments on this list, as I let the artists speak for themselves.
The albums list will take me a LOT longer than the previous three lists have. In the couple of days it will likely take to post the list, I may post a couple of other favorites from the year 2008. See you around, in any case.

great list! that Springsteen album, I heard a rumor, will rock so much that it will literally shake the ground.
Mastodon, Franz, Lily Allen, and all those others should be great fun for all as well.
