I have to agree , when i first started listening to K-pop , SNSD were the first band i was checking for and I had the hardest time telling Yuri , Seohyun and Yonna apart. It was only when i started to really watch the videos and performances that I got to see how individual they all were, and looking back I can't believe I couldn't tell them apart.

Joy is easy to point out because of her unique facial features. Seulgi also looks a bit more "cat like" than Irene.

I don't know Jessica how is getting so much popularity in China/Hong Kong. Lately it has risen through the roof.

The media there really shaded Yoona comparing her to Jessica saying that Jessica got VIP treatment while Yoona entered the event through the public entrance.

They also shaded her because she rejected to comment on the Ladies' Code incident and questions about her "drunk incident".

Someone roughly translated:

1) Jessica got to go the VIP route with barriers, but Yoona only went the usual way with a few bodyguards
2) Yoona rejected/did not answer a few questions like whether she'll go drinking in the nightclub again, and if she has anything to say about EunB's death, while saying Jessica was very friendly with the media.
3) Saying that despite the difference in hospitality is related to the organizer, the difference is also present due to the relationship between the idol and the media.

Basically they just kept on putting down Yoona and compares & praises Jessica

You're right, Yoona is popular because K-Dramas have popularity in China and Yoona is established as an actress.

But Jessica's popularity is rocketing really fast in China for some reason. It won't be long before she overtakes Yoona as the most popular member if she hasn't already. Especially now that the Chinese media seem to be promoting Jessica more.

She's even more popular than Fei and Jia in Miss A. She has 3x more Weibo followers than them and she isn't even Chinese.
