But tbh, it's only Rih stans who talk about Europe when talking about global, because Rih is only big in Europe and North America. Global means that you're successful in Latin America, Africa, Europe, North America AND Asia. The only artist that has recently accomplished this is Lady Gaga.
That's why she was selling out stadiums in Africa and Diamonds being 17 weeks at number one in SA. Global definition.
Because Europe is a huge music market and can contribute a lot to any artist's overall sales. If you compare it to Asia for example there's a difference, Europe has three big music markets where artists can sell 500k or more (UK, Germany and France) whereas in Asia there's only Japan. The same goes for South America countries, I don't think current International artists have sold something like 500k in Brazil.

Someone is local if out of 3 millions they sold 2 in their own country.

South Korea is bigger than Japan in singles sales right now, Maroon 5 sell millions of singles there for example.
