I don't think Beautiful would have worked nearly as well as a lead single if she hadn't completely obliterated her old image with the Dirrty phase. Everyone had an opinion about her after Dirrty, mostly negative. So then Beautiful really hit home because it was so damn believable, everyone was coming for her looks/choices. She played the public hard, very smart.
