Imagine if the first was somewhat of a hit / charted and the latter had received it's controversial music video sending the media into meltdown mode? Beyonce and Rihanna are interesting in that they are aspirational lifestyle brands. It goes behind music into them selling sex, success, attitude and happiness. People want in on that. You want their clothes, their perfume, to see them in concert, to buy their music, to get a taste of it.

Their teams work hard on nurturing their brand and they try not to do anything that cheapens or compromises it. Beyonce is a good example of always putting a positive spin on potentially damaging coverage. I wouldn't be surprised if they do plant stories because she always presents a composed reaction and usually waits til the oppertune moment. Rihanna is more IDGAF, and we believe it because she doesn't engage.

Gaga could learn from this.

I don't want her to become a cold machine, but Brand Gaga to me should be about glamour, defiance and innovation. She's touched on this of course when establishing herself, but of late it's gone off the rails. Now that she's post flopping, it's the ideal time to rebuild and come back strong. Strategy, strategy, strategy.

The quickest and easiest way to do it is brand copromotion and endorsement. And that not only works with products, but films and other popstars. I.e collab with *insert cool act* and you are deemed cooler through association. Want a new demographic? Collaborate. Want your old demographics back? Collaborate.

Yaaas! Gaga said this on her twitter! She seems to love the song a lot too. It was probably such an amazing moment sis.

I would give anything to see her performing it live. The song is so powerful. My favorite from the album (+DWUW).
