Considering it was a boring mess until Beyonce came (this is agreed by most publications as well) and that a lot of people were only watching and waiting for Beyonce, I think you're point is proven wrong. MTV was smart to save her for the end so that they'd get everyone waiting for it to happen.

I am not wrong. The numbers don't lie Y'all claim Beyonce is the biggest star in the world and you were all so sure she would bring in over 12M viewers

And how were the supporting artists lame when the VMAs featured the hottest pop girl of the moment (Ariana, who had 3 songs in the top 10), the hottest rapper of the moment /entire summer (Iggy) and another rapper who just broke the Vevo records for most watched video in 24 hours (Nicki)? These are the live for now artists, just like Beyonce.
Where were the viewers? There was nothing else competing with it and it was aired on a Sunday.
