I hope Iggy continues to remain relevant, selling albums (she's hardly doing it now) and selling singles for years to come cause her hype is crazy right now. One single that does something that a Nicki single hasn't and now she's above Nicki? I don't care for either, but people need to get it together. All artists and not just Nicki do things to keep their name in the spotlight and remain relevant and to sell records and whatever they do it's their prerogative. Besides what did you expect from a song like that

But he did not lie though
She was just being crude and she did it because she knew people would watch the video. She used a sample and let it do all the work her lyrics was weak. You can tell it was a left over track and she is just letting her big bum do most of the work by getting the streams.

Right, a good role model is a woman who conforms without question to the standards set by this patriarchal society that strictly define how a woman should act, dress, and talk in order to be considered "classy" in the eyes of men?
Nevermind LMFAO setting a bad example to little kids as well for example, that isn't worthy of controversy and those guys thrusting their crotches are not doing anything terrible. it's Nicki Minaj embracing her body that's the real issue with society. Where can I find the petition?!

I think the issue is, like when Miley used sex for attention, that there is very little "art" involved in it. Granted, "art" is a loaded term and we could argue anything is "art". However it seems to me that there is a strong difference between using your sexuality as a means of attention and objectifying it, and using your sexuality as a means of beauty and entertainment. It's basically the difference between stripping and burlesque.

This is the second post and there are now 8 pages so excuse me if this has already been brought up, but do you honestly think every black person should support and agree with everything any other black person does? That's ridiculous.

But who gave a **** about art when Sexy And I Know It was smashing?
Where was the outrage, the anger, the backlash, the moral questioning?
Fact is, when a woman, particularly a woman of color, does anything deemed sexual, she is instantly labeled the worst of names, and it's a clear double standard. Why can men embrace their sexuality, even going so far as to use women as props to bolster that, but women cannot? I mean, I fail to see what is so "disgusting" about Anaconda. Twerking is nothing new, and there's nothing wrong with that form of dance. She were's a thong in one scene, a piece of underwear/swimsuit, but there's nothing wrong with that either—it's okay for the skinny white girls in SI, it's okay for LMFAO to be in speedos, it's okay for Usher, Trey Songz, Bieber, etc to be shirtless. It's vile for a woman to sing about sex, but it's perfectly fine for a man to do so, as they have been doing in popular music since the beginning of time. Even Mozart has a piece whose title translates to "Lick my ass," but it's fine and it's art because he's a man.
The outrage is nothing but sexist.

You do realize because of girls like Nicki Minaj we now have little girls going around thinking that's the best way to get attention from a man instead of being an independent woman with class. I would never marry a woman that doesn't respect herself.

Which girl is going around saying that? Where is your tea coming from?
Why is okay to assume that any little girl who watches Anaconda will instantly think that is what they have to do to get a man, but for boys, the same doesn't apply to sexual songs by males? If girls learn anything from Anaconda, it's that it's OK to love your body, it's OK to be a sexual being. This is just like the people who said Partition and Drunk In Love are ruining the minds of young girls. These young girls do have PARENTS who aid in teaching their children right from wrong. I don't watch "Sexy and I Know It" and think, "Well golly, the only way people will notice me is if I strip down and thrust my junk."
I mean, what is this mess about Nicki not respecting herself because she twerks? A man who shows skin and grinds his body respects himself, but a women who does the same does not? Nicki Minaj shakes her ass when SHE wants to, not at the call of a man. Moreover, she covers up when SHE wants to, never at the call of a man. She is in control of her OWN self-image, and THAT is a good message for everyone. She owns her own empire, she's self-made, she works hard, THAT's a good message.

I do agree the way that men and women in music are treated is sexist.
However in this specific case, the difference is that Sexy and I Know It isn't in a long line of masculine objectification for the sake of shock and attention. It's rather unique and is far more humorous than Nicki's.

The point of their comment though is that they are non-factor as opposed to Nicki who is an A-list celebrity.
Do you really think Al Roker would not call a video by Justin Bieber shaking his butt in a thong, doing splits and stuff vile? Do you really believe that would fly over the radar of American society just because he's a man? We could compare how men and women are treated in regards to sexuality, but the sexism is usually that they use women to express it, as you've said, not that they are necessarily doing the same thing as women and not facing the same reactions.

So in your words:
1) There is a long history of male sexual objectification in pop music
2) Sexy and I Know It is more of a serious song/video than Anaconda

You can't convince a Nicki Minaj fan because their opinion is bias.
