BEYONCÉ's release was definitely risky, it was impossible to tell beforehand that it would cause not just a social media storm but that even news channels would devote time to it. She probably expected some kind of reaction, but those few days were really beyond anything anyone could imagine. It was a risk and it paid off big time. As a standard release it would've been hopeless, the flop lead single would've deflated all hype.
The music itself was not risky, it just wasn't very good.

A big star dropping an album out of the blue kinda equals a big star coming off a huge era. Both are extremely front-loaded and both work in any way possible even if the music's bad. Prime examples: Bestialité & Born This Way (except here the music was good).
Like Born This Way (I only got the standard version because the other one doesn't exist and was a deal made by DJWS to destroy her credibility with **** like BJAF), I deleted two songs from Beyonce's self titled (No Angel and Rocket being the Highway Unicorn and Bad Kids of the album).
Nah. Uglyanna looks like a piece of ***** next to Karrueche.
Funnily enough, that picture of RihLORD is of when she won Most Desirable Woman
Karrueche is not as ugly as Rita or Beyst but she's not more beautiful than RihLORD.
Beyonce came from the 4 era which acording to atrl is a flop on the size of bionic and Britney Jean.
That's not my point. She wasn't coming off a huge era for her standards, she was dropping the album out of the blue. Gags was the one having career defining success with her previous era. Both were front-loaded.
