I just can't believe Nickelback isn't opening with bigger numbers. I guess they're more of a "slow and steady wins the race" kind of band. As I recall, ATRR didn't debut with massive numbers but they held onto the chart for three solid years and they're still selling 5k a week on the catalogue chart. Maybe they turned people off this album by releasing "Something In Your Mouth"? People really don't seem to like that song. Or maybe the public finally wised up and realized they're being played for suckers and Nickelback basically recycle the same formula over and over.

In case yall HATERS didn't notice...this is only 1st day sales. They predicted Alicia to sell about the same amount and by the end of the week she pushed out over 700,000...so don't count Bee out just yet.

541,000. The number itself is large and great, but it's Beyonce. 500k-550k was some of our least of expectations. In the sense of having a lot more promo, closer release time compared to "DV" being released in June, and the album in September. And of course two HUGE singles, I was expecting like 750k+.
Regardless, good number. However, the Guns N Roses album is out Sunday. 15 years since last album, excited fans, she has to keep up that number or rise like Alicia.

Hilary Duff didn't even hit a top 100 debut. 
Hopefully with her next album she will do better than this.

YAY HER THIRD #1ALBUM BUT SHE'S GONNA SELL MORE!!
EXAMPLE:
Alicia Keys will once again be at the top of the charts when her new CD, As I Am, debuts at #1 on next week’s album chart. On the strength of her hit single, No One, As I Am will possibly have sales as high as 550,000 according to Hits Daily Double, easily beating out Celine Dion’s new CD, Taking Chances, which should come in at #2 with sales of about 250,000- maybe more..........

Album sales overall are failing, P!nk didn't even pull 200k and you guys are putting **** on Beyonce's 550k in the most saddest hateristic way, it's getting funny now.

Its for the first week.  500k is amazing but for Beyonce who has promoted the hell out of the cd & has two huge singles right now its kinda a letdown. If its gonna sell the same as B'day with "Deja Vu" that kinda puts it in perspective... I expected like 700k but w/e, obvs i was thinking too much

Shut up. Owning what? Opening the same numbers as her last album with 5,000,000x the necessities to open even bigger? I congratulate the debut, but the GNR has been highly anticipated such as the AC/DC and Eagles albums. AC/DC released their first album in 8 years and sold 784k copies, Eagles sold 770k+ copies last year with their first album in 20 years.
These rock bands releasing exclusively have large power. I won't say they can beat her sales in 2 days, but it is something to look at.
