Why would any American ever want to be a teacher? lol the pay is literally garbage. Teachers in Canada are paid and treated VERY well, though. 60-65k/year is standard and you get 2 months of the year off (or you can get paid double time if you teach summer classes, which a lot of younger teachers do).

I'm hoping that this year I'll be moved up too a leadership position in the service club I'm apart of. The teacher that runs it is my GIRL so hopefully that'll give me an extra boost That'll make my GPA look less tragic

My GPA in college was great in my first two years of college (started off with a 3.5), but it took a turn around junior year. I even dropped down to a 2.8. I was lucky enough to get back up when I took summer classes to move graduation up because I only took a somewhat small load my freshman year (easiest classes one could take) and when I only had a few classes my last two semesters of college. Went back up to a 3.1.

They have so many other amazing benefits too. Some teachers even get paid a whooping 90k per year.

As for these Ivy league schools and whatnot, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they were very rich or getting their tuition paid for by the school/scholarships (meaning you're very brilliant)

If you are planning on going to grad school, and you basically have to these days because everyone has a bachelors and it means nothing, you probably don't want to spend a fortune on your undergrad degree.

I know people who were in my class that literally came into a 4 year grad school program with over 200k in debt...even with a great paying job, it would take them forever to pay that **** off.

Debt & the amount of WORK is the only thing scaring me about college. Like legit, they need a class on handling those costs.

I haven't started paying back my loans for just a standard 4 year university, so I know how people who went to Ivy league school feel. I'm still contemplating whether or not I will start paying back or apply for another forbearance. lol

I went to Pharmacy school, our tuition was 30k/year for 4 years....those kids that came in with 200k, left with over 400k (when you add living costs etc, my whole pharm degree cost about 200k).

I am so thankful that my parents were able to help me and that my debt is/was very, very minimal. Some of the people I know....I have no idea how they're gonna handle that debt + a house + car etc....

But people take out loans when they don't really, really need it. I was going to school on a scholarship and was eligible for Pell Grant and other grants. I just took out loans because I wanted more money in my pocket.

A little bit, but nothing drastic. Even if I got straight As during my first quarter of school, I don't think it would do much. I'm hoping my "additional comments" essay explaining my circumstances will help. Sophomore year was a mess for me in multiple ways and I'm hoping one of these places will be understanding. There are still a lot of good schools in my score/GPA range though. I'll be fine regardless, but obviously getting into one of my dream schools would be ideal
