How is this being abrasive?
Quote:
I know there are many teachers on ATRL, such as Waffles O' Brien, but is teaching respectable? I have no idea how Waffles O' Brien got his teaching job, but I know in most cases, you need to have an average understanding of your material, and need to go to college. But does the exact college matter? Unfortunately, in many countries, teachers aren't paid a lot, so people don't think it's a respectable job like becoming a lawyer, doctor, banker, etc. Also added to the fact it is often quite easy to get a teaching degree, as opposed to going to medical or law school. I'm sure Waffles O' Brien can enlighten us more on the process of become a teacher, and if it actually is difficult, contrary to common perceptions.
Is it due to the number of mediocre teachers out there? Or because people just think so? Or is teaching actually respectable job? Would you want to become a teacher?

I'm assuming the mods though I was being abrasive towards teachers or Waffles O'Brien? I don't see how I was being abrasive because I didn't insult anyone. I said that one has to go to college to become a teacher (which is obviously not abrasive), that
unfortunately, they are not paid as much, and unfortunately that is why people don't
think it's a respectable job often times. I never said I agreed with them, I was going by what many people in my country think (which I said was unfortunate). And I said it's often easier to become a teacher than become a doctor, but then I said maybe Waffles O'Brien could enlighten us and say that the common perceptions of its easiness is wrong, since he has first-hand experience becoming one.
I even said do people just think that teaching is easy without any basis. ("Do people just think so"), and that or maybe you believe it is a respectable job.
I don't understand how it was abrasive towards teachers or Waffles O'Brien?
