I really liked the whole "colorful art pop freakshow" concept the "Applause" video had, but yeah, they defo should've made it a bit lighter considering that it was her comeback + ARTPOP was supposed to have a colorful "Disney Princess High" feel.

But, uh, the Applause video has over 170,000,000 views and the song itself will eventually reach 3x platinum. Like, why are we acting like it alienated people when it clearly didn't?
The era failed because of the DWUW debacle. That's all.

Her latest outfits have been really ugly and unflattering. I love what she wore to that Japanese night club, and what she wore when she arrived (seashell transparent outfit)!

Gaga needs to buy the rights to that demo. It's actually amazing and I do use it, the voice is annoying though. That's why I want Gaga to use it tbh

Never thought of this, but I wouldn't put it past her. Although I don't think the song has anything to do with that version of Bloody Mary (unless they're somehow connected).

That's less than Judas...
And it got that many views only because it did decently in the US.
It might not have alienated anyone, but it didn't help her either.
A music video is the best and most effective promoting on a WW scale (you don't expect her to perform each single on every show in every country, right ?).
If the music video had been better, the song would have performed better !
(GUY flopped because no one was checking for her anymore)

Bit too far there sis  TF gave us some beautiful, iconic looks, and while I agree that the 3 looks you posted above are some of her best, you need to watch it. I'm a BTW/BTWB era stan because I think she looked best then, even though she was high 95% of the time.

I've been a Gaga stan since 08 and I always thought she was ugly then. I thought she was uglier during TFM and her looks started getting better during the Judas era. I thought she looked absolutely gorgeous during the start of the ARTPOP era (and she had a few great looks here and there this year and last) but now she looks like a garbage heap and I want to cry

You're right, of course, but people forget that half of The Fame era consisted of Gaga wearing the same wig and Dorito Dress because she couldn't afford anything else.  The second half of The Fame era when she was recording and writing TFM was when she started dressing better.

I mean, you can try to justify it all you want because you don't like the video, but you're wrong. The US isn't Gaga's main market so to assume most of the views are from the US just doesn't make sense. 'Judas' was a flop single that had a lot of controversy around it and that's the only reason it received so many views. 'Applause' was the first time in nearly three or four years that the public willingly searched for "Lady Gaga *insert single*" on YouTube in order to watch the video, and that was proven by the fact that "Lady Gaga Applause" was the first thing that popped up when you typed in "L" for months following the single.
'Applause' was a great platform for her to start the era. It was safe and got people back on board, and I truly believe 'DWUW' would have smashed had things not messed up. Oh well, maybe next time.
Edit: I don't think video quality matters all that much. The video for 'Dark Horse' was panned by critics and fans alike and that didn't stop the song from being a behemoth. 170,000,000 views on a Gaga video after everyone thought she'd never be Vevo certified again is a success.

TF era isn't my favorite fashion era from her. BTW is her worst (some good in it). I actually think ARTPOP era had some wonderful fashion in it. A few missteps, but the highs were really beautiful. TFM is probably my favorite (sans Alejandro era).
Whatever era we are in right now.....It is a hit or miss. Some of it slays like never before, some if it is probably her worst.

There was that one week during the Applause era where she literally killed every single outfit she wore. And that one day where she did all of those interviews for radio and came out of the buildings in a different outfit. She looked so, so good.
I think she's dressing all emo right now because she misses that damn dog. Holy hell at her being so affected by it. Maybe I don't get it 'cause I don't have a dog.

Looking back on the BTW era makes me appreciate the fashion more. It was bad at times but she always took a risk and pulled it off most of the time.
