I remember I met this white British guy who kept asking me what kind of black am I.
I kept saying American and he wouldn't take that answer and then starting asking me if I was a black latino when he realized I wasn't gonna name another country/ethnicity.

They are really persistent.
I remember freshmen year a science teacher assigned a foreign meal assignment where people had to make a dish from their ancestor's home country. Like no one could make an American dish. The black people were LIVID. Everyone was pretty much like "**** it" and everybody brought in soul food. I lived for it tbh. But yeah, white people can be so inconsiderate sometimes like damn...

Right? Those are colonized countries just like the US. Clearly that teacher should have just stuck with science and left those type of assignments to the social studies teachers with some cultural awareness.
Am I the only one who's disappointed about a lot of the major black artists not speaking out re: Mike Brown/Ferguson? A few rappers have made statements, but no one super popular. I hope this isn't like the Trayvon case where most waited until the last minute to do something. Ugh
I REALLY wish I lived in an area with a large American black population like Charlotte or something sometimes.
I remember being in Charlotte with a cousin and I saw the most beautiful black people. They all listened to music like that, some good neo-soul, went to church, and just congregated among each other. It was so beautiful.
We went to these afro centric art galleries, and plays put on by black americans. It was so nice.
Charlotte is a small town but it's still so nice to see people like that. Atlanta has it too but I can't really stomach that place for too long
As far as colored folk go, my town has African-Americans, OD Jamaicans, OD Dominicans, a lot of Trinidadians, a lot of Colombians and Ecuadorians, and enough of everyone else.
