They honestly should have gone for much, much less plot in order to set their focus straight but like I said I appreciate their ambition. I think it's heading towards a very interesting and depressing but realistic conclusion that'll be a very important statement due to current events, too.

The first five-ten minutes are important to solidifying her humanity, IMO. Also the same original Lucy is shown in a short montage in the very beginning. Hence, the other emphasis. I think the quick transition is meant to represent that even with 20% utilized, she still changes into this other form completely. But I never really viewed the science of it as all that important.
