I find it hard to find beats I like since I like to write rock and folk inspired stuff with dark chords and it's hard to find beats for that
Have you thought about paying a producer to produce an EP or anything? I'm sure if you live in a city they'll be a few producers available for hire that you could work with. It's what I'm doing right now because I have very little production skill but it lets me be involved in the whole process and make the tracks sound exactly how I want them to, it can be a bit pricey though.
Guess it depends how much you're willing to invest into your music
I produce and sometimes write because I always want to make a song but some of the songs I write are kinda bad (lyrics wise) so I stick to making music mainly.
First verse and Chorus written so far although the chorus needs work. It's currently untitled.
Spent a while on the floor
Got kicked down, bruised and torn
Got the marks, scabs and tears
Battle scars formed under fear
But I’ve seen the light and come out
Silhouette of Angels, abound
I’ve seen my dreams disappear
Source of comfort jeered and sneered
Isolation was my ally
The whole world my kryptonite
But I climbed the mountaintop
Realised I cannot stop
My time has finally come near
Cause of inhibitions cleared
This rose grew from concrete dust
Failure is allowed
Because, it’s on my own terms now
My time has finally come near
Cause of inhibitions cleared
This rose grew from concrete dust
Failure is allowed
Because, it’s on my own terms now
I think this really will be the last song I write about him. This kind of just sums up how I feel now, and I'm not over him - but my heart isn't breaking any more. It's me just explaining how I feel and coming to terms with everything.
Like Breathing
I always had to muffle myself
Just to fit in with the crowd
Since I met you
I finally glow on my own now
I used to be so painfully shy
Now it’s not so hard to talk
Because when I speak
You listen till every word is out
And I love you
So much sometimes I can’t think straight
Have to fight the smile whenever you’re around
And you see through to every little part of me
Can’t tell a lie, you already know the sound
So loving you comes naturally, like breathing
When you’re not with me, it’s like something is missing
If you need me, I’ll come running at the speed of light
Even in the dead of night
It comes naturally, like breathing
I used to be like Pinocchio
But instead, I was made of ice
When you came along
I felt like flesh for the first time
And I know that you don’t love me
But I see now that it’s fine
Just knowing you is enough to last me a lifetime
And I love you
So much sometimes I get so scared
I wonder if my heart can move along
But if you’re happy, I know deep down that I’ll be fine
It won’t be so hard to stow this love of mine
So loving you comes naturally, like breathing
When you’re not with me, it’s like something is missing
If you need me, I’ll come running at the speed of light
Even in the dead of night
It comes naturally, like breathing
Nobody else takes my breath away
When you love another, I will stay
If you’re happy, I will let you go
It may hurt but you don’t have to know
And thanks for taking care of me
No wonder it came naturally
And loving you comes naturally, like breathing
When you’re not with me, it’s like something is missing
If you need me, I’ll come running at the speed of light
Even in the dead of night
It comes naturally, like breathing
Like breathing
I love you
So much sometimes it takes control
I’m so entranced by the beauty of your soul
And you drew me in, I know my heart may never stray
You’re the sun that shines in a world that’s full of rain
So loving you comes naturally, like breathing
When you’re not with me, it’s like something is missing
If you need me, I’ll come running at the speed of light
Even in the dead of night
It comes naturally, like breathing
Like breathing
I love you
It comes naturally, like breathing
Like breathing
Song I wrote with Taylor Swift in mind. Remember when she was rumored to re-release Red? This is what I had in mind for a re-release song called Red Rose.
RED ROSE
VERSE I
You miss my red rose lips
As you take another sip
And get the closer to the edge
To the end of your descendance
So, stop all your pretending
The message that I'm sending
Is you don't need to catch me
I've kept myself from falling
PRE-CHORUS
It's not that you were in the wrong
But together, we're imposters
It's not that I knew all along
That we weren't what once we thought of
It's not that we weren't once in love
But you couldn't be my armor
It's not that he will be the one
But his presence makes me stronger
CHORUS
Rows and rows of red roses
Showing all their thorns
They motion me to mourn
For what we've never known
But, I know what's important:
Taking what I'm done with
Making it to something
One can fall in love with
Rows and rows of red roses
In the wrong moment
Rows and rows of red roses
Gone by the morning
VERSE II
You miss my bright blue eyes
As you sit around and cry
Think about it for a while
How you think that you should try
Stop remembering, asking me
All that you'd thought we'd be
Longer and longer,
You're severed, but lingering
PRE-CHORUS
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Our love waned into the ground
Shame it only brought you down
I have bloomed into myself
Patience grew me into health x2
PRE-CHORUS II
It's not that he will be the one
But his presence makes me stronger
CHORUS
OUTRO
Left the flowers on my porch door
So you'd know we'd never be anymore
There were gone by the morning
So you'd know someone else owned my heart
VERSE 1
All it takes is one note, one beat
To know that you have been completed
Show me that you can repeat it
Only you could get me feeling
This way, every evening
I sway on my feet and
I feel every meaning
Till it needs more repeating
PRE-CHORUS
I could dance all night
You and I, so right
So why?
Are you nowhere in sight?
Oh my.
Oh my.
Oh my, I I I
I ask all the time
Why you're not on the dial
I've thought that you were all mine
But you deserve to shine
Oh my.
Oh my
Oh my, I I I
CHORUS
You're my guitar on the radio
My heartstrings dancing more and more
Electricity starts to flow
Through my body, and onto yours
You're my guitar on the radio
You're what I want, with every part
You take me where the song goes
You're what I end up looking for
HOOK
Tell me, where did the guitar on the radio go?
Tell me, where did the guitar on the radio go?
Oh oh oh oh oh
Where did the guitar on the radio go?
VERSE 2
All it takes is one chord, one harmony
Your playing plays through all of me
You're patiently waiting for me
To get you where you wanna be
Know one day, that they'll dance with me
They'll know what they've been missing
And what you're blessed with, now come and step with
This instrument that's heaven sent
PRE-CHORUS
CHORUS
HOOK
BRIDGE 1
She wants to play, now I want her to stay
Now you all, let her have her way! x2
GUITAR SOLO
CHORUS
BRIDGE 2
She wants her part, now never let her not
She wants your heart, so give her the spotlight!
Make sure you move right
Give her the spotlight!
This is my first time here. I'm so glad I found this thread!!! Most of your songs are beautiful!
I've written so many songs over the years but I'm kind of shy sharing them. But I promise I will share them sometimes when I finally become comfortable!
Anyone else know how to become an official songwriter? I mean, I would love to have my songs getting sold to musicians who want them. But I just don't know how the hell that works.
So, to celebrate 100 pages, I am going to post a song I wrote! I haven't posted something I wrote in a long time, but this song is about a child with a big imagination who is dying (though it's never stated directly) and them going to their "Imagine Nation" to rule over it. I usually don't write a song with a not-so-obvious meaning, but I really like it.
Fun fact: There's a children's book company called Imagine Nation, so if I ever wanted to release this song, I couldn't name it "Imagine Nation"
Imagine Nation
Hey there, bright eyes
Living in Imagine Nation
Your kingdom in the sky
Couldn’t bear to wait
Hey there, young one
You filled our world with wonder
Now you’re in the setting sun
As the moon pulls it under
Hey, don’t cry
Blankets of stars will hold you tight
Hey, don’t cry
You are the brightest of the night
Fly high
Don’t let Imagine Nation die
Don’t let Imagine Nation die
Don’t let Imagine Nation die
Hey there, pure soul
You still live in dreams of many
You’re there in every story told
In every word that’s said
Hey there, some day
We’ll be in the world you made
Until we go to make our way
We’ll be left here still amazed
Hey, don’t cry
Blankets of stars will hold you tight
Hey, don’t cry
You are the brightest of the night
Fly high
Don’t let Imagine Nation die
Don’t let Imagine Nation die
Don’t let Imagine Nation die

Well, you have to sign to ASCAP or BMI or get accepted to SESAC… It also helps to have your songs already copyrighted the official or unofficial/cheap way… your choice… but if you sign with ASCAP or BMI, whatever songs you submit will be automatically copyrighted (at least, that's what I've heard…).
Basically being signed there, you'll already have connections to whatever camps are looking…
