Anyway.it was obvious none of "4" singles was going to catch on pop radio since the album and singles were released right in the middle of the dance craze..and I don't know why,but the GP wasn't here for xo.it didn't even take off in some of her biggest markets....but overall you guys try and downplay her success all the time.if you actually did research you would know Beyonce has only released like 17/18 worldwide singles.most of her single are only urban singles,or one country singles.
A smart and established artist shouldn't care about singles anymore and here is why. There is a reason why RS, Madonna, Bon Jovi and all the great artists don't bother catering to the masses like they did when they first started. Beyoncé is just following that path and if any of the current girls are smart, they need to start thinking about it:
Here is a breakdown of a typical single sales revenues:
--The record label takes 50% because they handle the release, the marketing, the promo on tv and radio deals, the copyrights, the licensing etc...
Here is an article about that http://www.legaljungleguide.com/reso...ongwriting.htm
So that leaves 35% for the songwriters, producers and the singers
So if there are 3 songwriters and one singer, we can say they'll probably get 8.75% each.
Which means, if a single sells 5M downloads, each at $1.29, the artist only makes 564,375

Hmm, so Beyoncé and the label decided to release 4 singles for....fun? the craic? #banter?
Oh, don't really get the Xtina comment bc IIRC 2/3 of Xtina's last singles have gone 3xplat but ohkay.
When your singles fail to move your albums and when those singles are somebody's else song (Xtina was a feature on Feel This Moment and Say Something, which means they just paid her an appearance fee, money she would bank regardless of the success of the song) you shouldn't be bragging about them.

Idgaf about appearance fees, boo. All EYE know is that Xtina scored a bigger hit than ANY of the #oldschool could muster, in the MIDST/aftermath of her biggest B0MB ever.

yeah, good for her, except it wasn't even her song. i am so sick of the excuse, especially from christina fans, that features are somehow equal to solo hits. if people were buying the song because of christina her own songs should've been hits too, but they weren't.

Well saying radio in general is just wrong, she has had hits on Urban and Rhythmic radio recently. Pop radio is all about if your label is willing to cut them checks. Trust me, if Columbia wanted her records played, they would have gotten them. But Bey basically said no thanks to Columbia's promo $.
...yes, i'm sure pop radio is all about cutting checks from labels. especially when songs like thrift shop get played without being from any label at all and others get played even though they're not from a major label. no, this is an excuse. pop radio plays what's both popular and will attract a lot of listeners, so they generally play songs that are both radio friendly enough to keep people from listening and also popular to attract more people. that's all. there's a reason singles by artists on major labels do badly sometimes, because they don't play just because you pay them. but i'm sure beyonce is the ultimate bastion of artistic integrity that's just too good for these silly labels and radio and better than any other artist in every way. you keep thinking that.

Can't sell albums, can't sell solo songs, can't sell tour tickets... but she has big hits as a featured artist. "Yay, such win, such greatness, Bey could neva, #flop"
Beyonce her last top 10 pop hit was in 2009 with sweet dreams. Here are her pop peaks the last 5 years:
#31 Run The World
#16 Best Thing I Never Had
#36 Countdown
#16 XO
#12 Drunk In Love
only 2 of the songs are pop, one of which had no promotion.

This album isn't really pop at all. Plus, she needs to release the right singles, and the right time, in the right way. It's clear she's not focused on her singles this era
