Of course he lied, everyone in that house lied.
It's like lying on a resume. If you want to get the job you have to convince me why you're the perfect man for the job. So he gave the producers what they wanted.

The character he's playing in the house isn't the real him. When he's talking lovingly about his brother that's the real him, when he's just randomly starts dancing. When he's bonding with the other hgs. If they would stop type-casting maybe his approach would've been different
