You guys have to keep in mind that a lot of people don't find out about things the way we do. Sure, all of us youngsters and avid fans knew about the livestream thanks to Her instagram, but there are so many people out there who wouldn't have heard about it. Plus Fallon caters to a bit of an older demographic. Most of the viewers were probably just hearing about the stream for the first time. Same goes for Her VMA performance. I don't think that was officially announced before now.
And the story about Her scar is just a cute story She has that She can tell. Just because you've heard about it before doesn't mean She can never mention it again.
