You need to learn your music history. MJB is cited as the most influential r&b female artist in the past 25 years. She further unified two distinct genres of r&b and hip hop, which created an entire new genre hip hop soul. The whole swag of a woman from the streets who could ride a hip hop beat, but still stay r&b is still ever present today. Don't believe me then go listen to Jazmone Sullivan, Monica, Keyshia Cole, K Michelle, Ashanti, Keri Hilson, Letoya, Beyonce etc....
Don't believe me watch a documentary on the HISTORY of black music and it's impact. This entire episode is dedicated to MJB and how she changed the entire genre of r&b to what we know it as today:
Check my above post for the definitions of these words if you don't get it.
And I'm not in any way trying to prove Beyonce is a blueprint for R&B. I've said twice I disagree with the title of this thread.
well then it's refreshing to see someone who isn't completely blinded by stanning.
I still think there's a difference between influence and inspiration with the former having the greater effect but oh well nothing to argue about anymore.
so rih's umbrella inspired J.K Rowling does that mean rih has influence over her?
lol this is getting ridiculous. When you have to grasp at points I know it's time to stop so this is all I'll say:
Comparisons often work to exemplify a situation, but comparisons must compare like things in order to be proven correct. Thus, your comparison only works if you said, "Tolkien inspired Rowling, does this mean that Tolkien has influence over her?" Both subjects are involved in the same craft and thus using this to prove something about two musicians works. You cannot compare apples to oranges.
I should also mention that being influential and having influence over her implies two different meanings. One being active and one passive.

I agree there is a difference, but there is more of a similarity than there is difference. Both cause you to think a certain way, both lead you to create something, both inform your choices and colour your creative output. Whether or not its quantifiable to other people, if you say it happened, it happened.
This forum's need to undermine Beyonce's impact on music is shocking/a tad racist. Especially when you all are so quick to tag the word "IMPACT/LEGEND" to any white one hit wonder.
At the end of the day, Beyonce is a legend, whether you agree or not. She is not the blueprint for RNB, but music in general. Every artist wants to be like Beyonce. After all, who doesnt desire to possess virtues such as talent, beauty, ingenuity, acclaim, and drive?

Exactly. And a blueprint doesn't have to be used. It's often changed, altered, etc. The fact is that a blueprint is the ideal - the thing that you want to build but may not end up fulfilling.
I don't think she is the perfect R&B blueprint, but as far as being a popstar I agree with you. She has just about every necessary component and if you filled these half as well as Beyonce does you'd be more complete than a lot of the popstars out there.
Okay after enough deliberation on off topic blasphemous posts. Lemme leave my opinion:
___________
Beyonce is one of the blueprints of r&b, she is not the sole defining one. Nor is she the most important however you can't deny how she is viewed in today's musical climate. She is seen as the standard of what an r&b performer/vocalist should be nowadays. Her contributions to music may not be as vast as the divas before her but her style has left a footnote in r&b:
@3:26 talked about how her vocal style contributed to contemporary r&b. The fast paced style of singing that goes more towards rhythm/hip hop edge like a rapper. That style can be seen in modern stars that are influenced by her like rihanna for example (lemme get that and several of her songs)

NO
Success + Winning some grammy's does not = LEGEND
She has more Grammy's then Mariah, Whitney, Janet but she still fail's to be as revolutionary and impactful as them.
But musically she's has not done nothing we have not seen before, she lack's the skills to be innovative. Her performance skills in this day and age makes her seem like a legend but her sales, artistry, impact has yet to reach the levels of those before her. She is riding the wave that was created for her and adding some GOLD Body spray,Wind Machine's and some ECHO'S.
She will become legendary but she is not the blue print sorry

That's without getting into SOLO SALES .XXXX
She is the closest thing to a legend in pop though. I think she's there (like if she stopped in a while she would be considered such) she just needs time for things to get nostalgic.
Her dual career really helps this. Diana Ross teas.

I disagree she is one of the blueprints not the sole or most important though. However you failed to elaborate on one thing you left a comment pages ago that indicated you felt rihanna was leaving more impact/influence. So I wanna ask why do you feel that way??

If Fifth Harmony blows up, they will have Beyonce to thank. Because if Bo$$ does it scream Beyonce I don't know what does.
"I pledge allegiance to my independent girls" "workin for the money cause that's what my momma taught me" I hope bey is getting royalties from this song
