Let's be real. Ashanti had a good run her debut era (2001 on I'm real
and 2002) but then she was associated Ja rule during a time where he and Gotti and them were going downhill and she was heading right down with them. She did managed to score a couple hits during 2003 but by then the Gotti era was at an end and she was struggling to keep her head above water with those anchors.
I was a big Ashanti fan as well as Beyonce etc. I remember when Ashanti blew up and had all of these feature songs and her own songs during that one 2001-2002 period but then she received success so quickly that she already had backlash by the end of 2002 and then with Gotti and Ja going downhill it was a 1-2 punch.
I even remember Mary J shading her talking about we'll see who sinks or swims.
Rock with u was a big hit and she managed to get #1 for a couple of weeks but it was the beginning of the end.
That doesn't equal Beyonce surviving and artist that was going downhill.
That's like saying Katy survived Gaga last year...different points in their career.
