If they would just sell it through the e-store in Europe at the same date as the rest of the world they would indirectly punish the stores for breaking the release date, yet they wouldn't actually hurt the fans who want to buy it.

But there would be some fans who would greatly prefer a physical copy rather than digital (knowing how sketchy that whole thing is with Nintendo)

Aren't they just punishing the fans regardless? The stores will still get their sales albeit one week later than they normally would have?

Apart from XY and BW(1) Europe's release has always been after the US's release though.

4th gen and everything before 4th gen Europe's release was even months after the US's release
