He completes the quickest climb to the top with a debut hit (as a lead act, and excluding holiday hits, which have their own sped-up timetable each November/December) since Bob Carlisle's touching father-daughter ballad "Butterfly Kisses" soared to No. 1 in just its third week on May 24, 1997. "It's pretty crazy," he told Billboard (in the Aug. 16 issue) of the song's rise. "It has been like this steady wave of people listening to it. In Australia, it happened last year, and it has kind of been slowly chipping away here in the States. It's hard to crack America.
