Mixtapes are free. I'm pretty sure she meant that she made the million from club appearances & performances she was being booked for because of the mixtape. At the time of Beam Me Up Scotty, she was EVERYWHERE. Clearly she wasn't mainstream yet but I know she did a lot of club performances and other smaller venues. I can see how she easily made a million.
