The last year/two years or so!
Azealia is kidnapped in the music video and tied up which represents her bad deal with her label and she was restrained from her true. Of course she willingly signed a label contract, but she was misled into thinking that she would be a main focus so the kidnapping metaphor isn't too out there.
The entire music video takes place in the desert, a place that is barren and mostly lifeless which is probably how Azealia felt about the music industry after being trapped in her label deal. She couldn't release what she wanted and she saw the industry as this terrible, lifeless place... There are other acts that are unphased by the surroundings or their predicaments (see: the people racing), but Azealia can't take it so she frees herself from the ropes while rapping/talking **** lol... Very similar to how she got out of her deal, right?
And, bam. Azealia emerges in a new outfit. Looking great, serving face, etc. Ready to begin the next part of her life.
And I suppose you could assume that because she is still rapping/talking **** after she frees herself that she will continue to be very blunt and open about how she feels in the future and it all wasn't just a gimmick to get free from her deal.
That is a rough explanation. Please excuse typos/errors!! Sorry, I'd take more time with it if I actually stanned for Azealia.
