I was thinking about this yesterday, I think Madonna wanted to ride the tail of Ray of Light's success so instead of touring she ran to the studio to record some more. I mean ray of light was released in 1998 and Music was being recorded in 1999. She never records so fast.
I think she rush released for that reason, and Music is not bad but it isn't up to the level of what Madonna can deliver when she takes her time. Also some of her best vocals were cut, and yes I'm talking of her creamy airy vocals in Ariosa as proven by the clip that just leaked and Liquid Love which even if it isn't a masterpiece her vocals are amazing.
I think she cut them since they were to similar to Ray of Light and she wanted to release a record that sounded differently so she favored her work with Mirwais and cut most of William Orbit's, but it's a pity cus not only her vocals were spot on but the lyrics we have seen of ariosa seem really personal and amazing.
And I'm not even going to talk about how there could be so many other songs that were cut that we don't even know about, I mean last week we didn't even know the Ariosa masterpiece existed, imagine how much more could exist that we don't even know about.
