Greatest hits albums are redundant in the digital age. Why even bother releasing one when people can make their own for $0.99 per song, or even buy entire discographies, with a few clicks. Not to mention illegal downloading.

Greatest Hits albums are tacky. Artists who release them are usually cash-thirsty nostalgia acts who need the money. Two women at the top of their careers shouldn't be releasing them. They should only be releasing new material.

I don't think a "Greatest hits" album relies on how many #1 singles you have.. I would vote Beyonce on this one because she has been known from the 90's to the current generation of music. She's survived several different changes throughout this generation and not many artists can say that. People look at her as a veteran in this industry, which she is, so I believe people would be more interested in buying a greatest hits album from her. You'd be able to see how music has progressed and changed throughout the years by listening to one from her, in my humble opinion.

A greatest hits album should be able to tell a story and immensely show your progress as an artist.

those 3.5 something receipts are from early 2013 though. they aren't the end year sales. Therefore those numbers aren't farfetched.
