Oh I misread your post and thought you backed up everything Im so sorry my computers have crashed twice before and I lost years of creations from when I was younger and I never got over losing them. My worst nightmare now. Earlier I lost a sim day of play on sims 2 when the game crashed on a loading screen, even that drove me insane.
Btw, I have no problems using CAS. I've been able to create two families of four now without any problems. (one family in Pleasantview and one in Strangetown)
should i copy all my sims files before i update my game then

Aha, yeah I'm not so worried about the gameplay, just wished I had backed up all the amazing houses I built. Some of them took me hours to build ><
Um the new patch for The Sims 3 deleted my game x1000

I know that feel. I lost a family I had been playing with since release when I ****ed up my computer last year.

I get bored to easily to keep on playing a 2 month old Sims game, let alone years, however, I remember playing a 6 hours game and I couldn't save it so I got annoyed and swore to no play the game again.

I love the texture my sim has, it looks real instead of the cheap polyester they give in you in the original game.
Speaking of The Sims 2, I decided Olive Specter need one last killing spree before dying. So I added General Buzz Grunt (because I decided that the main reason she wanted to invite him over was to kill him), Chloe Singles (justice for Erin and Kristen), the Beakers (always hated them, plus they were evil to Olive's son) and two of the townies that are nothing but bullies to people. Loki survived somehow, but the other five died.
Then I used a cheat to get the Resurrect O'Nomitron and I revived the Maid and the Pizza Girl that were buried in that lot, got them into normal clothes, moved them out and started playing with them. It felt kinda weird to be playing two Sims that weren't playable to begin with in the first place but can be played with now thanks to resurrection. But Jessica and Danielle are actually fun to play with since they are both knowledge Sims with lifetime wants of reaching the Top Level of the Entertainment career and maxing out 7 skills. So I don't need for them to get married if I don't want to. I might have them adopt at some point though. Or maybe i'll create two dudes for them. I'll have to look at their turn-ons and turn-offs, but they deserve a happily ever after now that they are alive again.

I'm glad TS4 looks a bit crap, I still have so many TS3 expansions I need to try out. Seasons and Pets are a must, what else has been good since Late Night?

The game looks great. Everyone else seems to be upset about the missing features but I'm really happy most of them are gone Except toddlers and pools, there's no excuse for them not being in the game.
We already knew the worlds were small and I'm fine with that, but I'm disappointed that there's not a real map view. I guess the buildings light up as you hover over them.

I would recommend getting Generations. It provides much more fun activities for kids and teenagers and the household becomes more like a real family. You also get to throw bachelor/bachelorette parties and the kids can graduate high school and things like that.
