SM had a lot of issues with Sulli last era though, so maybe this was like the "last straw" or something, and they just decided to get rid of her instead of have this happen again next time.
- Before the era started, someone found Choiza's wallet (he's a member of a korean hip-hop group) and in his wallet were pictures of Sulli, sparking a dating scandal between him and Sulli. Dating scandals are big in Korea, where the fans feel betrayed their favourite members are dating other people, it's a mess.
- Era was announced and everything started off really well, Choiza/Sulli scandal had blown over for the most part (people were still talking about it but other scandals at the time were more 'popular').
- Sulli disappeared all of a sudden from performances for about a week, about three weeks into the era. Theories went around saying she was sick and stuff. f(x)'s performances and schedule was pretty much cancelled.
- SM Ent. announces Sulli's hiatus from the group, saying she's on a break because she's sick of drama and rumours from scandals. SM says f(x) will carry out activities as a group of four for the time being.
- Everyone's worried that f(x) - a group that is infamously snubbed by SM in comparison to their labelmates - will be shelved or disband etc.
- Sulli's on a beach with Choiza.
That's the gist of it from memory.
The only times SM have announced members disappearing is when they're not part of the company anymore, so it's weird they announced Sulli's "on hiatus", implying she's coming back. There's still hope she'll be back but we really just don't know. So that's why she has hate right now.

Not a wallet being exposed Korea-Hollywood is such a different place it seems. I couldn't imagine one of the Western pop girls having a scandal start because of something like that.
All of Red Velvet's performances so far have been great but I'm more excited to hear them actually sing live. Based on how good the pre-recorded vocals from yesterday were I expect them to slay.

Wendy has done musicals in Canada so she will slay live. Plus SM put her as the main vocalist. Not sure on the other 3, we've only really heard them rap/chant. Only Wendy served any real vocals in Happiness.
Apparently Seulgi is decent at singing and is a lead vocalist in RV, but I don't know about Joy and Irene, I don't think they are that strong in that department.
Because she's selfish and screwed over her group to go running off to some beach with her boyfriend. She could have at least put up with it until the promotions had finished.
I get that she had personal issues, but she should have been prepared for bad comments/idol stress during her trainee period. It was really unprofessional of her to just take a break in the middle of promotions like that.

If you suffer from depression it can come in bouts unexpectedly, especially if you live/work in a stressful position, which being an idol is, ten-fold! She is in NO way selfish. It is her health. She has to look after herself first and foremost. Especially since we all know SM won't now, or the minute she's passed her sell by date (HAPPINESS!!!). If she had a heart attack, would you expect her to continue promoting and call her selfish? If she had cancer? So why is she being ill (mentally) any different? SHE IS ILL. Sis, way to over-exaggerate it. They didn't announce depression, they just said she was "exhausted" from all the rumors. If she was genuinely mentally ill, they would have announced that, or she would have got some kind of medical help by now. It doesn't look that serious to me.
At the end of the day, it's her job to complete the activities she is required to do within her group. The fact that she just gave up because she couldn't handle the pressure is selfish, and unfair to the other members. How many lesbian rumors has Amber put up with, and how many constant comments on her "bitch" attitude has Krystal had over the years. You don't see them leaving the group over it.
They've even been out of major promotion activities for a YEAR. Sulli has had a long time to deal with her issues and keep it together for the sake of the group. Yeah I agree it's her health, but she needs to get it together because it is unfair to the other members and the fans. Red Light only had 3 weeks of promotion because of her decision. SM is at fault as well, but there's not much they can do if she doesn't want to continue promotions.

If you like you can hear Seulgi on Henry's song Butterfly. She's a good singer. Based on what we've heard I think Joy is around Amber level and Irene is around Sulli level, I'm just interested to hear how they sound totally live.
I'm predicting they'll be quite good because all of SM's groups that aren't meant to parallel another group have been good. DBSK, SNSD (though I guess they were originally female SuJu but they didn't really turn out that way so) were good for a while, SHINee have always been great, The Grace were great live, they were just flops. So logically Red Velvet will slay.
