No, I agree 1000%. Mariah's voice blows Ariana's out the water.
I'm just saying, I need Mariah to provide me with the Pop&B bops like she used to. I need more Fantasys and ABMBs.
I think I didn't coherently wrote my statement. Tone, richness, fullness aside, Ariana has more ease on BELTING register than Mariah. It is a fact since Ariana mixes and her mix is head dominant which make her belts lighter. Mariah's belts are more chest dominant which makes her belts sound full, resonant, ringing and rich which I LIKE.
And yes, Mariah needs more bops like that, so that teens, adults and GM/GP can relate.
I'm here for Hoodriah's personality and atleast a quarter of Daydream live vocals .

I agree. Ariana has the wider belting range and has more ease with those upper notes (the same notes that Mariah would lose resonance on until like 1995), but Mariah's still a better singer. Mariah mixes PERFECTLY, while Ariana has a very unbalanced mixing technique, which is why Mariah's belts are so full and strong, while Ariana's are light and weak. Ariana's lower register is also awful compared to Mariah's.

How “Elusive” Is Mariah Carey Trying To Be?
Posted on 2014/08/02
Quote:
When the legendary and iconic global superstar vocalist, songwriter and producer Mariah Carey released her 14th studio LP “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse” on May 27th of this year, many of her fans surely had no inclination as to just how elusive she would be!
First, let’s back up a bit, shall we?
Carey’s much ballyhooed project certainly had a great deal of false starts and stops.
It was two years ago to the day as of this writing that Mariah released the anthem “Triumphant” which fans assumed was a part of a new album. It was not.
MC would then go on to release the soulful R&B collaboration “#Beautiful” with crooner Miguel in May of 2013 and it was a modest hit, by Carey’s prolific standards. It was a breath of fresh air in her ever-evolving sound too.
A new album was set to follow on July 23, 2013, but Mimi pulled the plug on that project because she was not keen on excluding “meaningful songs” from the tracklisting.
Some fans gasped, groaned and moaned, yet they continued to wait.
Fast forward to this past Valentine’s Day when word came “You’re Mine (Eternal)” was to be a single released digitally and to the airwaves with two different versions accompanied by videos. Was this really the start of a new album era and promotional push? Not so fast!
As it turns out, the rhythmic mid-tempo love letter tune was essentially treated as a niche tie-in teaser allegedly just for the specific holiday. The song garnered enough airplay and sales to chart the Billboard Hot 100 at #88. It then vanished as quickly as it came the following week.
Were we getting closer and closer to finally having another Mariah studio album in our hands? Well, hold on!
Carey unleashed a major promotional video touting her vast industry chart credentials and then whipped fans into a frenzy by announcing a new album on May 6. Rejoice, rejoice!
Well, maybe.
Keep in mind, the album title “The Art of Letting Go” had long been rumored in the press and her “lambs” were even treated to the song via Facebook as another teaser setting the tone for her forthcoming LP.
But as the previously mentioned date drew nearer and nearer, there was no inkling of an album campaign. Rumors began swirling Carey would “pull a Beyonce” and this notion was even allegedly suggested by Billboard in a series of PR articles.
Mariah and her team obviously decided May 6 would not be enough time to finish putting the final touches on the project, so to the wonder of many fans, an album title, tracklist and pre-order were eventually unveiled on iTunes. Finally, on May 27, the world would hear from Mimi after nearly five years in-between studio albums.
A new era seemed to be well underway. The Hit-Boy co-written and co-produced track “Thirsty” was teased to lock-up pre-order sales. Was it the new lead single? Umm, not quite!
MC then unveiled the nostalgic disco-infused groove “You Don’t Know What To Do” feat. Wale for the first time ever live on NBC for its summer concert series opener.
Was THIS now the new single? Sorry, don’t get ahead of yourselves!
The thirst level of legions of Mariah fans was finally quenched when iTunes Radio gave a first listen of her new album “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse” on May 20. A full week ahead of its official release.
It was undoubtedly one of her strongest efforts since 1997′s “Butterfly” and before that since “Daydream” nearly 20 years prior.
Critics raved. Naysayers were impressed again with a 90′s return to form.
TV appearances began to roll out. MC would open the 2014 World Music Awards and be honored with the Pop Icon Award while debuting “Meteorite” plus a full scale international press conference to globally launch the album.
Well, that production never aired in the USA allegedly due to unforeseen issues between the network and the awards show producers.
An NBC prime time special hosted by Matt Lauer came and went with little fanfare. Was there to be more promo?
Suddenly, word got around MC wanted listeners to hear the album as a body of work without allegedly plugging a specific track at radio.
First week sales would prove to be the first time in Carey’s illustrious storied career in which launch week of a new album would scan less than 100,000 units.
Granted, this is nearly a quarter of a century later after she burst onto the music scene in 1990.
Mariah was not seen much thereafter in terms of promotion. So, fans began to wonder what was going on with any and all promotional pushes.
How elusive was Carey going to be?
Hit-maker producer and manager Jermaine Dupri popped up here and there in interviews suggesting he was not concerned with “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse” sales because something was allegedly going to happen later.
OK, let’s take a minute to address the fact that honestly, MC has done a lot in her career thus far and everything she has done since 2000 is merely unnecessary extra. She has cemented her place in the pantheon of music history.
Mariah doesn’t owe anyone anything at this stage of the game.
However, I do respect she wanted us all to hear the project as a body of work. Few are better at telling a story with a full range of emotions than this multifaceted woman!
But the reality of the matter is, the current musical landscape is far different than it was 20, 15, 10 or even five years ago. The music world has grown more and more dependent upon single sales to keep labels thriving.
It would be great if we lived in a world where Carey didn’t have to do much in the way of promotion, but those days have long sailed away from within our reaches.
MC has always been the type of artist who has had to basically work her ass off, while being backed up by smash singles, that is, in terms of overall promotion.
I am speaking in terms of domestic and international marketing.
Singles sales have become the life blood of the struggling music industry in its current incarnation, so with audiences not having a specific song to cling onto, it makes sense that album sales would be low. Plus, the many starts and stops didn’t help MC’s case.
Can Mariah turn things around? Yes, but she will have to get out there and hit hard with promo and a major single, video and streaming campaign if she hopes to revive this legacy protecting masterpiece.
Unsubstantiated rumors have bubbled up that Carey allegedly plans to re-issue the album with additional songs. While there is little to no evidence to suggest this might be the case, it will take all parties involved working together in full communication to get this cohesive composition fully entrenched in the hearts of the masses.
It is a tremendous testament to Mariah’s artistry that she was able to conceive one of the strongest albums of her career 24 years later, but this album deserves to be much more than solely a fan appreciated effort.
We got the elusive side of the diva, but it is now time to show that she’s still here to be seen and heard!
Good luck, Mimi. I know you can do it. You always make it happen!
That blog post offered little beyond a concentrated timeline of events that transpired. The only things i found noteworthy were the need for better communication and promotion, two things known to all of us as avid followers of her work.
Ive said this many times before, Mariah KNOWS how to sell an album, why she isnt doing it (yet) should really be the question raised.

The gospel in them vocals ALWAYS take me there.
fjgdjf Now I finally know what she's saying at that part It sounds like she's saying "desperation"
Sis, if we go on technicalities Ari has ease SPECIFICALLY on her Upper Register compared to Mariah or Prime Mariah, yes I said it, BUT she really lacks resonance and substance in THAT SPECIFIC REGISTER. Don't get me wrong, I like some of Ari's songs like RT, AINE and yes, Break Free, but Mariah's voice can be your lullaby, stress-reliever, motivator and an alarm clock.
I think now that Mariah is displaying a LOT of questionable behavior, we should all be thankful Ariana is here, and she can be the little chanteuse and we can all follow her career from beginning to questionable Triumphant-behavior, becuz all of youngsters didn't get to do that with Mariah :/ Ariana is our second chance.

So, you're basically a bandwagon fan? Ariana is a cheap replacement the songwriting will never be there. Vision of Love and Breakdown kill Ariana's entire existence. Go be an Arianator

I think her behavior is fine and I don't wanna be a "youngster". You can keep Ariana.
