Any talk about pop culture is allowed. So movies, video games, awards, television, any pop culture movies are free roam. Most of the time it just happens to be music.

Not really. Members who often have it out for each other often lurk in base threads and warn off-topic talk in hopes of eventually getting them banned. Members come here complaining about it sometimes. Others complain about off-topic talk that has nothing to do with the artist in the base thread

I remember back in 2012, off-topic talk was allowed because fanbases were a place where fans can know each other and stuff. I used to hate it and report it (and it used to get warned). But then again, I think it depends on the mod and the fanbase.

I love to hate on Katy, but I think people forget that behind the Gaga avatar and silly comments is someone that listens to both Gaga and Katy regularly and I mean it's not like I run around attributing my identity towards a pop singer in any other part of my life.
While it makes the site messy, it doesn't matter and ATRL isn't that important so it's not like it's anyone's dying need to defend a comment that some anonymous user posted online on a pop forum.
Depends on what you were posting it in reply to, I guess.
Someone said "why are you using emoji's on ATRL?" and I replied with the laughing crying face.. I was reported and warned for being off topic, but the person who asked the question about emoji's wasn't.

Edit: The posts have been deleted too
I don't know why you assume that the person who asked the question wasn't warned, because he was.

Oh. I think there is leniency to it. It's just not something that can go on for pages.. sort of a minor distraction, nothing too crazy.
Exactly. Artist Base threads are more casual so we are more lenient towards offtopic conversations. But it still gets warned if it gets too much.
