I was going through my WP history and the last one I got said 'Private', what does that mean?

Could a mod please say what it is for or is that not possible?

I just went through my inbox and found the post, it was for trolling

The thread wasn't closed though

It's either because the thread has been deleted or you deleted the post yourself so as not to get warned or the warning was for excessive reporting, circumventing the warning limit, excessive posting, ...

I believe "private" warnings are for posts that have since been deleted. The thread could still be open, but your post was probably removed. Perhaps the post was a little too intrusive to the thread.

"Private" means the post/thread was deleted, or it was a custom warning given on someone's profile. In hello_world's case, it was a post that derailed a serious topic with a joke. So a mod deleted it after warning.
