Female debuts over 1,000,000 before the digital age (1945-2003):
1. 1998 - Britney Spears - Oops!...I Did It Again - 1,319,000
Female debuts over 1,000,000 after the start of the digital age (2003-2013):
1. 2004 - Norah Jones - Feels Like Home - 1,000,000
2. 2010 - Taylor Swift - Speak Now - 1,047,000
3. 2011 - Lady Gaga - Born This Way - 1,108,000
4. 2012 - Taylor Swift - Red - 1,210,000
Surprise! Digital sales have frontloaded album sales. This shouldn't be a surprise when this era also holds multiple records for biggest drops from #1.

Nnnn only 3 females did it tho and one needed a MASSIVE discount to do it It's still hard to debut with a million copies

2000 503,999
2010 245,649
But...504k is more than twice 246k, so it is harder to be #1 with big #s. But I guess some people just like to throw bile and filth.

Debuts weren't big then, rather major albums would push big numbers in their run. Like ADELE performed.

No, not like Adele did. 350k first week @ #1 in 2011 isn't like what artists with big albums in the long-run were doing first week back then, or before then for that matter. Many big albums debuted outside the top 10 but eventually climbed to the top. Adele debuted at the top with pretty impressive figures and just maintained week after week.

More like Frozen's run except either it lasted longer or had bigger sales for most of the the weeks.

I chose not to do 2014's 'cus all years this decade were ABYSMAL until the Holidays had huge weeks that bumped the average greatly.
I'm sure Adele, Taylor, etc might bump 2014's to over 200k.

I'm more than aware. I said in their run, as in overall. As in modest debut then later having big pushes thanks to hits, exposure etc. Which is why you see a lot of low debuts but huge total sales for albums back then.
I was more speaking about how she went higher during Xmas/Grammys. And times like that fueling larger sales moment.

I'm not 100% sure, since we didn't have the Internet in our house back then, but I think Napster was already big in the late 90's..
