Assuming that they are only doing one single before the album then that is when they will release.

This. Was hoping that it would be out in time for them to perform or at least promote it at the VMAs, but SOML was snubbed, so I doubt they'd attend anyways.

Sis, there have been a lot of bad videos nominated at the VMAs. Problem by Ariana Grande is nominated this year. They go by popularity of the songs for the most part.

Besides, the video for SOML was cute and meaningful IMO. It had nothing to do with the song, but it was a very personal video, nonetheless,

Which is probably the #1 reason why they were not nominated.

Other than the Grammy's, most awards shows require that you commit to attendance before they nominate you.
