On a negro related topic: How do ya'll feel about the politically correct people calling you African American? I know people IRL who hate it, and I don't prefer it either. Thoughts?

I'm actually half African in America but if you want them to see how dumb they are start callign them European Americans. See how they respond for me lol.

I check other on job applications. I don't understand the concept behind the term "African American". If that's the case why aren't whites considered "European American"? They're just "Caucasian". I don't understand why Indians are considered "Native American" either. Like... It's their ****ing country.

I don't agree with the term "Black" either though.

I'm technically not "African American" as I do have full blown Cherokee indian in my blood

I don't like it and I don't really understand why others so so for it. I get Africa is the motherland and all, but let's be honest we ain't going nowhere and Africa already has people living there.

They tried the sending African Americans back to Africa thing and that didn't work out.

Plus I damn sure ain't about to be Hyphen American while white people are just American.
They weren't even here first.

Mostly because we only consider ourselves black because white people told us we were.

Why do we have to identify as anything? Why can't we all be ****ing "American"? If we're so "equal" it shouldn't matter what our race is when applying for a job, school, etc. Judgment should be placed on the person's character not their "race", name, etc.

Honestly it doesn't faze me either way it's moreso the context which someone uses it in. If someone is trying to use calling me black or AA as a negative thing then I damn sure am gonna get pissed. I always just say insert west indian island american when I identify my background because that's where my parent's and most of my relatives have immigrated from. Also I have a strong attachment/knowledge to the culture

but I feel like if I say that people will automatically assume I'm a self hater and want nothing to do with Africa and black people.

If I actually knew what African culture/Ethnicity I came from I'd gladly rep it, but I don't
I do know that I am American. It's what I know. If I went to Africa i'd be a fish out of water.

Although I won't lie, on college applications I put "Black/African-American" for everything.
