I wonder if this was the type of music Nick wanted to do for the Jonas Brothers, but Joe & Kevin refused. I'll die if this becomes a hit (which it should) and then they get jealous and want to come back together. Nick has always had a ton of potential (both in looks and singing) so I think he deserves to be on his own. If his bros are too scared to branch out, then that's their problem, not his.
