I did a quick google comparison, and "oops i did it again" is more searched (and more global) than "put a ring on it", which Swissman just implied was an iconic line from the song.

Single Ladies isn't 2nd to Thriller. Oops! is.

You kind of proved yourself wrong. Look at that HUGE peak for "put a ring on it". Oops doesn't even come close. Overall it may have more searches (it is also an older phrase) but you can't compete with that peak, nor does the frequency of a lyric's search prove iconic status at all. The peak shows that more people knew about it and were interested about it than they ever did for Oops.

Also you didn't prove what I was saying wrong considering you only compared the lyric, nothing else.

The search goes back up to 2005. Oops! was out in 2000. Don't be naive. The point, Oops! is searched more and is obviously more iconic. The song is older. This has nothing to do with stanning and everything to do with the meaning of the word. "Iconic" means that it is an icon. That it is easily recognized and represents something. Lastly, all those videos mentioned may be iconic, but the discussion isn't whether they are or not, it's whether they are more than Single Ladies, which has all the bases pretty much covered.

Let's just agree to disagree. I do think SL is iconic but not that iconic. And you should see/hear november rain, it's a great song and video.

You honestly don't get it? If you search a lyric it doesn't mean it's iconic, it means you want to search a lyric. If you say a lyric in conversation it means it's iconic because it has been taken away from pop music and put into the social lexicon.

And let's not forget that we were comparing a song title to a lyric from a song. Change that and add "Single Ladies" and it's super clear which song is more searched.

I can agree to that It's all just a matter of opinion and I'm okay with that. At the end of the day, the iconic videos that are iconic need no introduction.

Single Ladies i's not the most iconic of all time but it's def somewhere in the Top 3 of the most popular, iconic, impactful music videos to ever existed. those brits bringing OOPS and BOMT just because she put a lot of money in it doesn't mean anything people won't recognize if you show them a random still of both music videos.
Like A Prayer is maybe up there but I can bet that the video is not even that huge. it shocked the world but until 2010 I hadnt seen it.
