Groups are dominated by horny fangirls who just love the guys faces. There is a reason the public doesn't use and doesn't support groups.
When groups were popular it was just a fad because it wasn't really a popular thing. Besides a few rock bands, there weren't really any pop boy bands. So when a few of them popped up all the teenage girls in America gravitated towards their dicks.
But it quickly wears off. It always does. One a new attractive solo, band, etc. comes into the picture the girls are off and forget about the other band. e.g. Jonas Brothers after Justin Bieber, and Justin Bieber after One Direction (Justin is still relevant tho).
You hardly see groups dominating and 1 or 2 groups who do or did well does not mean anything. Majority of groups in America fail to gain any sort of traction and if they do it's almost NEVER with the general public, but only with fangirls. There is a reason One Direction has never had a smash digital hit, but still manage to sell out tours and have great selling albums.
Compare the few groups who did exceedingly well in America with the plethora of groups who have exceeded in Asian Countries and there is an obvious difference.
