Gaga said herself that she wrote ARTPOP from a "happier" place, though? Obviously there's an exception with 'Dope', but for the most part she said it's all about happiness and fun.
And I didn't say she needs to be depressed to create a dark concept, I was referring to where she was when she wrote The Fame Monster, which is what the person was talking about. Gaga was a drug addict back then and was obviously incredibly unhappy with a boyfriend who was mentally and possibly physically abusive. The reason she was dark was because of her sadness, which makes me feel like when she goes dark is when she is sad.
"Brushes with darkness won't help you create your destiny." Gaga doesn't like being dark, but she often times can't help it when she's sad, and it seems that she cannot go dark without there being some sort of sadness connected to it.

And for the bolded part: I didn't want fun music at all. And I don't care about charts either, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't underwhelmed after I heard ARTPOP in full for the first time. But you don't see me calling it "trash" or "flop" like the rest of this forum. Don't get me wrong, I like the album, but ARTPOP is her weakest album after The Fame imo. That's just my opinion.

It's just my personality, I think. It's not intentional and I'm not trying to be like, "I'm right, you're wrong," it's just how I come off. Sometimes the Internet doesn't translate intentions very well.

But see, what you're doing is ignoring the real meanings of those "fun songs" in order to make them fun while focusing on the real meanings of those "not-so-fun songs" in order to make them not-so-fun.
Just Dance is about partying and drinking away your problems.
LoveGame is about choosing between love and your career.
Poker Face is about sexual identity.
Paparazzi is about yearning after someone who doesn't want you.
Telephone is about being suffocated by your work.
All of those songs are not-so-fun packaged to be fun, which is the same for ARTPOP's songs minus 'Dope'. Fans just want to nitpick and act like things have changed when they really haven't. Of course that doesn't mean you have to like ARTPOP's songs, but your reasoning doesn't make sense.
