He's more respected in his side of the industry than Britney is in hers.

His latest album sold 2 mill outside of the U.S. He was the most global male solo artist on IFPI

These days he's a recluse so the media has nothing to talk about. But back in the 2000-2004 he was all over the media. Were you not around for 2002 when Eminem was the biggest star on the planet with a number 1 movie, album and song all in the same year? 2 number one albums if you want to count the 8 mile soundtrack.

as has been sated several times in this thread, marshall chooses not to go on big tours because it is a trigger for him and he wants to protect his sobriety so that he doesnt nearly die again. but based on his ability to sell out the largest venues all over the world (he just sold out 2 wembley stadium dates in minutes this year, hihi), i'd say he could easily have a big WW tour if he wanted too.

'took to him'? well he didnt have a public breakdown. but he was definitely very scrutinized and covered in the media- to deny it is asinine. and even today, there is a book coming out this year about his impact on pop culture.

When Britney debuted she was the blueprint for other female popstars. Record labels were scrambling to find "the next Britney". See: Xtina, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore etc.

Not to mention the majority of major young pop stars today have mentioned Britney as an influence (Gaga included).

Britney defined pop music in the 00s. The industry would literally not be the same without her.

You can't compare the amount of impact they had on their respective genres, they target different audiences and that leads to a much more global type of argument, maybe eminem had more in rap, never denied that. But he never had or will have the amount of exposure and controversy as well the recognizable image and iconic heights Britney had globally, she was just a much bigger star in general and always will be in the long run.
