2. Eminem didn't have half the controversy that Britney had 2007 alone was bigger than any Eminem ever had. Britney was (and still is) the most searched person on the Internet ever and topped just about every year-end list. I think it's a fair point to say that Britney was more controversial because she was female just like it's fair to say Eminem was able to sell more because he was a male, though. There were trade-offs for both. And just like Britney still had huge commercial success, Eminem also had his fair share of controversy.
3. Britney's influenced a heck of a lot more artists who have also gone on to be much bigger artists. It's true that Eminem has a lot more respect than Britney will ever get, but influence? Oh, heck no.
4. He has an iconic performance. The one with the tons of Slim Shadys. Meanwhile, Britney has the one where she threw off the suit, the one with the snake, the one with the kiss and the one that she bombed at the VMAs.
It's literally neck-and-neck. Don't try to downplay Britney's accomplishments to put Eminem on a pedestal

the beastie boys were very in their own lane though because they were rap but they were also very rock fusion- but yes they did help pave the road. but then vanilla ice undid some of that in the eyes of the music industry. its the truth. and even without that- Em's influence on rap, its audience, the way rappers are marketed and where, etc. is still huge.
oh i was thinking about controversy relating to their art, and not that stuff- so yeah britney definitely had controversy and tons of it. thats my bad. but just as an aside, britney's breakdown, sure it got her a lot of attention but it got her zero respect. legends are respected. whereas even though em's controversy made a lot of people hate him, it also won him many admirers. and above all, i think thats really what sets the two of them apart in terms ofbeing legends or not. respect.
a heck of a lot more? ok. if you say so. i dont know britney's accolades like that. but its not like em hasnt influenced anybody, hes influenced at least 7-8 artists that i can come up with off the top of my head and probably more if i thought about it a bit.
his performance with elton john was named the most memorable grammy performance by billboard (or maybe number 2 behind p!nk idr). as well as the infamous kim performance at a concert that was more talked about than most award show performances.
i wasnt trying to downplay her accomplishments?

i even said in my post that she had an amazing career.
