Sales aren't the only thing to discuss with music.
Do you think the general public brings up how much xx sold? How many arenas xx sold out? No, cause they're not as invested.
In fact, the general public discusses their opinions on the quality of the music among each other more than the sales of certain acts.
But sales reflect the general public's taste. If they think a song is good, they will buy it, otherwise they won't. Judging by GP, they are dissing Red Light right now/
But imagine if all SM acts received albums like Pink Tape, Red Light, Misconceptions, and Tense regularly? It's entirely possible given the time frame these albums came out after their predecessors. I really hope this album is a return to form for SM and more acts could get brilliant albums like those.

f(x) music is very EDM-ish which ATRL digs in but other people have different taste so they can have different opinions on which album is good quality

I wasn't dissing other people's tastes. I'm saying that making great, cohesive, ~artistic albums are totally possible since SM has done it a few times over this past year. I know each group serves their purpose, but they can still have great albums that reflect what they do.

Not true, if you have a large and established fanbase, they can counter General public's taste. And by that opinion, YG must be the best agency of all of Korea with the number of weeks his artists have been on the top of Korea and SOME the best song ever but you and I both know thats not true.
