It happened during The Fame Era, I think. It was supposed to be a single for Trina's new album but, as usual, there were conflicts with the labels and they had to replace Gaga's parts with another girl, Kalenna Harper. This latter version ended up on one of Trina's album but it's not been extracted as a single no more.

Gaga's rap verse was replaced with that mess of a screeched yodel.

So Aura WAS the first single Interesting seeing her saying this after all the little fools in here telling me "nooooo sexxx dreams was the first single she said it in a radio interview!!!!", but at least time proves I was right Aura and Gypsy were the first single or something like that and Aura was getting the Telephone sequel treatment along with her character in Machete Kills but then Applause happened.

The B-side album sounds like something a low profile single could pull tbh. If she's doing it, I can see her release the fan favorite unreleased tracks like NOTBR, OOT and Vanity, tracks that didn't make the cut in past albums like Brooklyn Nights and then the Act II material like Partynauseous. It ain't going to happen tho.

The sinlge era has been such a mess if you think about it.

So Aura was supposed to be the first single, Interscope said no. Then they discussed about Sexxx Dreams being the first single, Interscope said no. They chose Applause. She leaks Aura to get hype and prove Interscope "wrong".

An album facebook header is uploaded saying "with Applause & Gypsy". Everoyne freaking out thinking Gypsy is the second single. The header gets deleted.

She hosts a q+a on twitter asking fans what they think the next single is. She announces Venus as the 2nd single.

Interscope releases DWUW as a promo single. Shoots to No. 1 thanks to album pre-orders. They change the 2nd single to DWUW.

Gaga shoots a quick DWUW video. Gaga gets depressed, doesn't release it and hides at lm.com.

Announces spring awakening.

Releases G.U.Y. without much promo and radio deal and goes on tour.

So we went from Aura < Sexxx Dreams < Applause < Gypsy < Venus < DWUW < G.U.Y.

Some of you are taking this 'Aura' talk too seriously. The flip-flopping of lead singles happens all the time. It's completely normal for an artist to want one song to lead the album while the label wants another and then the artist and their label eventually settle on something they both agree with. There's nothing messy or out of the ordinary about that.

'Applause' was chosen as the lead single, point blank. What happened behind the scenes that caused them to come to that decision means nothing and is irrelevant. The real mess began when her label gave her the go-ahead to start planning 'Venus' only to pull the plug and change it last minute. From then on out, everything was ****ed.

The original plan was 'Applause' and then 'Venus' but was changed to 'Do What U Want' after 'Applause'. I doubt they had anything else planned for a third single until later in the year when Gaga decided on 'G.U.Y.'.

But if you think about it, when she announced the date for the album and release date of Applause it only said "the single ... date....". So I'm very sure they hadn't decided on Applause at that point even.

Because it's pointless. I feel like the only reason it's being continuously pushed back is because Gaga and her team are waiting for the go-ahead from her label to release app tracks. Unfortunately they still control they part of her career (unless she leaks stuff ). Music releases from major popstars are tricky. Gaga can't just throw songs on the app, she has to wait for the "right time".

People should move on from 'Out Of Control'. She didn't even write the song for herself and never had any intention on using it.

I dont think so. There was a tweet from August 6 from an insider. Something like that: Single- August 12, Video- August 19

There are no "insiders". They were going to upload the "Lady Gaga is over" video right before the song was released and the ending of the video where we hear the synths was going to be our first listen of what the song sounded like.

If her story about only getting a week to put the video together is to believed, it sounds like maybe they didn't tell her which song they wanted until last minute and that's when she had to scramble to put everything together.

It's funny 'cause Gaga actually listened to her label this time around and did what they wanted music-wise, and yet things were still messed up. The only semblance of organization was when she did everything herself with 'G.U.Y.'.
