People keep trying to twist what black people are saying by making it sound like they're completely against white rappers when all people are saying is stop putting these people on a pedestal and acting like they're making this huge impact and doing big things for hip hop just because their skin is white. It seems like there are more new black country artists coming out every year but where are the articles about them taking over country or country music now being run by blacks or calling them kings and queens of country? Same with black pop artists. None of it will ever be as big a deal as white people rapping or singing R&B and we all know why.

I don't hold anything against Iggy, I actually like her a lot. If you go through the old threads for her songs you'll see me praising her. But the truth is, I don't think she'd be #1 right now if she were black, she'd be limited to rhythmic and urban radio (just like how Nicki Minaj's new Dr. Luke produced single and Beyonce's new Sia written single are not charting top 50 on pop yet for some reason).

Also XO (written/produced by Ryan Tedder) did terribly, and yet Counting Stars was a hit. I honestly don't understand why Bey's songs didn't do so well when they sounded like consciously crafted songs for pop-radio format.

Iggy wasn't even middle class in the US let alone upper. You do know she worked at dead end jobs just to try and make it. Not to mention moving to a completely different country at 16, with the money she saved up just enough for to come over. Hardly privileged. Iggy most def struggled to make it here!

I heard his song "I mean it" on the Spotify Viral 50 list and the Future-knock-off chorus slays but his raps are way too white. I don't have a problem with white rappers but his verses have a specific white/suburban tone and inflection to them.

I think being white made Iggy stand out/raise a few eyebrows but its not to say she just strolled up to America and got her millions. 16-24 is a long ass time to dedicate your life to one singular goal. That's 8 years of struggling for something to finally get it.
