Who lip-syncs in front of a computer? If she's a rapper she should be talented enough to do it then and there, even if she is dancing.

And that's half the problem, her live vocals are so, sooo bad. And she's not even singing where she could be off-key and hit a bung note. She's rapping. How can rapping be bad live? It's rapping. And even her studio-recorded versions would probably take hundreds of attempts to perfect, and even then, the accent still irks me.

It could have been cryptic right up until the "I hope and pray that BET continues to honour authenticity" and then it became obvious. The writing credentials, when she was disclaiming it by saying "I don't look at myself as a female rapper 'cause I know what I do" could have been interpreted that she was directing that at anyone.

But the second she ended it with "continues to honour" implies that she was talking about her category and the fact that she had just one. And who else would the word "authenticity" be directed to? Who else in the rap game can be seen as inauthentic? Riff Raff? For best female hip hop artist? He's a man and as crazy as he seems, I think he's authentic. She was calling Iggy out. Denying it is delusional.

omg I guess we'll go around in another circle then. I never said every artist wasn't manufactured in some way. Of course they are. It's all marketing and it's incredibly important. Nicki's raw, natural talent is what got her to be discovered though. Sure, it wasn't what got her to be a huge superstar in the eyes of the GP. But it got her discovered so that she could go through all that "marketing" and "manufacturing."

Whereas Iggy's ethnicity, attractiveness and marketability of being a tall, blonde, model from Australia in high fashion clothes who rapped was more instrumental in her getting discovered and signed than any raw rapping talents were. T.I. would have seen her and thought "damn, we can sell this" and not "damn, she's got good flow and an amazing voice." He was blown away by her looks and marketability and not any raw talent. Whereas with Lil Wayne, it would been both. He would've thought "damn...she's got a good flow, she can spit, she can write AND she's marketable" (aka she's attractive, she can sell sex, she can sell fashion, etc)

Are you ready? Because I'm going to say the thing about how if you strip Nicki down there's still raw talent underneath and how there isn't with Iggy, again.

Yes. EVERY ARTIST that is successful is manufactured in some way. I'm aware of that. But if you strip Nicki down of all those gimmicks, outfits, features, accents, wigs, branding, logos, features, etc. there's still raw rapping talent left behind, and with Iggy I don't think there is. I think the marketing and manufacturing is ENTIRELY what she's made up of. I think she's a girl who wants to be a rapper but she's not a rapper by nature, and practice isn't making perfect.

The faux outrage at Nicki doing what rappers do is kind of funny. And tbh it's not like Nicki putting a hit out on Iggy. It's just lettin the world know who the best is.

Wasn't there something on TMZ where someone said that he ghostwrote Nicki lyrics? I bet she meant that when she said 'When you hear Nicki Minaj spit ... Nicki Minaj wrote it'. She even mentioned TMZ in the speech.
