TMTurkey is doing too much right now. Don't act brand new. This is the same Nicki from 5 years ago. Don't stan one minute, and then say **** like, "I'm seeing her true colors" when she comes for someone. And I really don't see the Iggy shade. Maybe it does apply to her, but she was just speaking on people in general that don't give her credit for the bad bitch she is.
Yes but strip Nicki of her gimmicks and there's still natural, raw talent underneath. Everything on top is just good marketing. But that's all Iggy seems to be. Good marketing. Good clothes, good image, good logos, good branding (late 80s, early 90s Miami Vice feel), movie-themed music videos, she looks like a white model and she's meant to rap like a black girl from the south. It all works on paper but it's completely manufactured.
Especially considering we're meant to be moving out of the manufactured, 90s-2000s pop star era, with phenomenally talented artists like Adele and Lorde entering the industry.
Believe me when I say that Nicki is 10x more talented than Iggy. Iggy still makes great music and IS talented, albeit less than Nicki, she is still a capable rapper who I believe has only gotten better with each piece of work she has put out.
That is in comparison to Nicki, because she is the standard for female rap. However Nicki isn't the only person we should look at. What about these random popcorn rappers that are killing urban radio airwaves right now? Iggy is just as talented if not more talented than the majority of them and she deserves recognition for that. If they can be successful than there is no reason Iggy can't be.
We shouldn't look at Nicki to determine Iggy's worth. Both of them can coexist and be successful. This isn't a "take one and kill the other" situation.

A speech directed towards a hip-hop audience =/= a song that directly refers to someone.

To say Nicki isn't manufactured is the biggest lie ever told. Nicki was built off being amanufactured (wigs, fake accents, fake body, fake persona etc) Whatever you can name.

Like when Iggy was starting out, she had to perfect her raps into a voice recording, pick the best take and then lip-sync it in front of her computer.
Who lip-syncs in front of a computer? If she's a rapper she should be talented enough to do it then and there, even if she is dancing.
And that's half the problem, her live vocals are so, sooo bad. And she's not even singing where she could be off-key and hit a bung note. She's rapping. How can rapping be bad live? It's rapping. And even her studio-recorded versions would probably take hundreds of attempts to perfect, and even then, the accent still irks me.

My problem is don't call Iggy manufactured, when at one point Nicki was a gimmick. Nicki had wigs, costumes, she did pop music, she basically was everything that y'all try to deem Iggy as right now and had the same stigma as 'not being a rapper but a pop star' and now you guys completely forgot that Nicki was singing about starships and stuff. It's like the pot calling the kettle black to me.
